Angela completed the one-page paper and Beranda put together the website.

In this final component of our group project, we will present a toolbox for community educators. This toolbox will be based on what we have found in our project focused on domestic violence prevention and education programs. The information in this toolbox comes from our research on community education programs, community partnerships, and community based learning related to the prevention of domestic violence. This toolbox will present concrete information we have learned from our endeavors this semester as well as information community educators can use. Our toolbox will be in website format.

From our community educator case studies, we found that Organization is key in keeping the balance of a good community program. Anyone with accurate knowledge and the willingness to share it can be a community educator.

From our research into community based learning, we found that Involving the community gives higher awareness to the problem. Providing training and support to the community allows them to understand the problem of domestic violence better. We also found that education providers should include more information about how to become a participant in preventing domestic violence.

Based on our inquiries into community education programs, we found that practitioners should integrate the different parts of people’s lives into community education and use different types of teaching. They should also find needs in the community and create services to fill them.

Looking into community partnerships related to domestic violence prevention, we found that partnership in the form of funding can help programs succeed by providing financial resources to organizations without much money. Local partnership is important. Community partnerships should have an information management system. They should also utilize social media and social networking to facilitate partnerships and connections.

  1. I loved your graphics. As soon as I opened the website I was interested in what you all had to say. The site was easy to navigate and provided examples of the case studies you did throughout the course of the semester.
    Nice job.

  3. Excellent job group! I especially the video on domestic violence. It was very powerful and a true attention grabber. I love how you incorporated the "contact me" section. What a neat idea that I plan to use for future projects in other classes. Thanks for a job well done!

  5. Great interpretation of the project. I like that it isn't simply a summary of the work you've done so far and actually links the ideas you learned in a more realistic way to better understand those course concepts. Thanks!

  6. Beranda and Angela,

This is a very cute toolbox you created! It is beautifully designed and is very easy to attract readers’ attention! I like the color, the pictures and the overall design of your website! I especially like the brochure you created (Today I clicked it again and I could not open it. It says: “The application is currently unavailable”)! Can you check it again and make sure that your readers can open it? I am sure your readers will find it very beneficial for their work!

You may add the links of your assignment in your website, and list the main ideas, suggestions and resources/examples for future community educators in each component (for example, in community partnership). You can even list the link of other groups’ websites so that your readers will see more resources which might be useful for their work.

    Bo
